Needles and thread
1. Ahead of time, cut two red apples from felt for each child and pin them together.
2. Help the children sew the pieces of felt together; have them keep their stitches close to the
edge and sew about two-thirds of the way around the apple.
3. Invite the children to stuff the apples with wool, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
4. When they are finished, they can stitch the opening closed.
More to do
Cooking: Make applesauce or cinnamon apple crisp.
Math: Taste different varieties of apples and make a graph showing the children’s preferences.
