Materials

Assorted greeting cards for the targeted holiday, one per child

scissors

hole punch

yarn

white glue

wax paper

masking tape, optional

Instructions

1. Cut off the fronts of greeting cards. Punch holes around each card.
2. Cut pieces of yarn about 18" in length.
3. Make "sewing needles" by pouring white glue on wax paper and rolling
about 2" of one end of the yarn into the glue. Another way to make needles
is to wrap a 2" strip of masking tape
around one end of the yarn.
4. Dry by laying flat on another
sheet of wax paper. Make
sure that the glued end is
straight and not kinked or
curved.
5. When dry, tie a piece of
yarn with a "needle"
to each card.
6. Encourage the
children to sew
the yarn through
the holes in the
card.
