Instructions

1. To prepare, record short passages of instrumental music, contrasting smooth,
choppy, fast, slow, mysterious, happy, sad, and so on.
2. Encourage the children to put on headphones and listen to the recordings in
the listening center.
3. While listening to the tape, encourage them to select colors of paper that
they feel matches the music and move a crayon over the paper as the music
dictates (fast, slow, smooth, choppy, bouncy). Remind them not to make a
representational drawing, but a picture of mood and feeling.
