Wiggle eyes Tissue paper

Construction paper Scissors

Markers Glue

Instructions

1. Read a book about a particular animal or discuss the animal of the week.

2. Each child may decide on an animal puppet to make (he may decide to make the animal from the story you read or something else).

3. Ask each child to name materials they might need to make the puppet (keeping in mind the different body parts).

4. Assist the children in making their puppets: have ready pictures of the particular animal, and answer questions about the shape, size and location of the animal's body parts.More to doDramatic play: Use the puppets to make a puppet show. * Use the puppets for problem solving, to explore emotions and to boost imagination.Field trip: Go on a nature walk and try to observe real animals.Special days: On a certain day, children can bring in their pets and talk about how they are different (appearance, food they eat, where they sleep, what they do) and what is the same about all the pets.
