What to do

Tell the children that they are going to have a "listening" parade. Ask the children to put on their "listening ears" and follow directions for loud vs. quiet playing. Tellthem to listen for verbal cues and watch of gestural cues.

Each child gets an instrument and falls into line.

Tell them to play loud while making a hand gesture going up. The parade begins and the children play loud.

Continue leading the parade, and tell them to play quietly while making a hand gesture going down.

Alternate loud and quiet play.

The children can take turns giving the "loud" and "quiet" cues.
