Bend and Stretch

  • Lay your baby on her back on a flat, padded surface. Hold her feet and gently raise them near her face and say, "Bend and stretch, bend and stretch."
  • Gently touch the baby's right foot to her left foot. Then gently touch her left foot to her right foot. Each time, say, "Bend and stretch, bend and stretch."
  • Cross the baby's arms in and out over her chest, saying,
  • "Bend and stretch, bend and stretch."
  • Let the baby grasp your index fingers. Raise her arms up and down while saying, "Bend and stretch, bend and stretch."
  • Finally, while firmly holding the baby's hands, lift her to a sitting position, then gently move her back down, say-ing,
  • "Bend and stretch, bend and stretch."
  • Eventually the baby will pull up to a standing position. She will love every minute of this exercise.
