- Crayons, markers, or paint and paintbrushes
- Talk to the listeners about the four main scenes: the old man frees the crane, the beautiful orphan girl comes to stay with the family and weave cloth, the couple sells the beautiful cloth, andthe curious neighbor peeks inside the weaving room.
- Fold the paper once horizontally, then another time vertically, into four squares. Invite the children to draw one scene in each square.
- Younger children may just draw one scene that they remember from the story.
