- "The Grand Old Duke of York" is a fun poem to act out. It's even more fun when your child adds his teddy bear (or any other stuffed animal).
- Ask your child to hold his teddy in his arms and do the actions to the following rhyme:
The grand old Duke of York,
He had ten thousand men.
He marched them up the hill and then, (hold teddy in the air)
He marched them down again. (bring teddy down)
Now when you're up, you're up, (hold teddy up)
And when you're down, you're down, (bring teddy down)
But when you're only halfway up, (hold teddy in the middle)
You're neither up (bring teddy up)
Nor down. (bring teddy down)
- Try saying the rhyme faster and faster, then slower and slower.
