Early Childhood Professional Development Program
![]() |
Gryphon House is pleased to collaborate with the University of Wisconsin-Stout on this innovative professional development program for early childhood educators and caregivers. This program offers working professionals like you the flexibility you need to earn continuing education units from the University of Wisconsin-Stout by studying Gryphon House publications independently and successfully completing an assessment online.
A continuing education unit (CEU) is the equivalent of 10 training hours. Certification requirements for early childhood professionals vary from state to state. To help you find information about the regulations for your state, the National Child Care Information Center has compiled contact information for different state agencies involved in child care.

How the Program Works
- Enroll. It's simple! Add the program(s) you would like to take to your cart. If you do not have a copy of the related Gryphon House publication, add it to your cart also. Complete the checkout process, where you will receive an automatic order confirmation and e-mail. Once the enrollment has been processed, you will receive an additional e-mail from Gryphon House giving you the URL link for the online assessment.
- Read and study the book. If you ordered a copy of a Gryphon House publication, expect it to ship from our warehouse within 24 hours; however, orders placed on weekends or holidays typically ship the next business day.
- Take the online assessment within six months of registration. Save the Gryphon House e-mail with the URL link to the online assessment, as you will need that to access the test, which you must take within six months of the date you enroll for the course. NOTE: You should be ready to take the test when you click on the URL link. You will be allowed to access the test one time only. Make sure you allow 2–3 hours for taking the test. The test is an open-book test. Once you take the test and receive a score of 85% or higher, the University of Wisconsin-Stout will send you the CEU you have earned for the course. If you are unable to complete the test in 6 months, or if your score on the test is lower than 85%, the university will contact you with instructions on how to proceed.
