What to do
- Make and display posters depicting the four seasons. The class can make these easily from poster board, blue for winter, yellow for summer, orange for autumn and green for spring (or let thechildren decide which color will make a good background for each season). Cut pictures from old magazines or greeting cards to paste on the poster boards or let the children color pictures depictingvarious "seasonal activities and celebrations. You can make attractive edges for your posters from wallpaper sample books or construction paper. The posters make a wonderful group project forthe class.
- Using a large coffee can or something similar in diameter, pre-cutlarge circles from blue construction paper. with rulers and black felt markers, show the children how to mark off four sectionson the circle. The children can use the crayons or markers to illustrate on season in each section any way they wish, or let them put stickers of the four seasons in each labeled section. Also, youcan cut circle shapes from whie paper and divide them, as above, into four sections with a ruler and pen. This time the children can paint seasonal colors in each section, for example, white and grayor blue for winter; pink and green or pastels for spring; orange, yellow and brown for autumn; and yellow and gold for summer.
