Materials Clear plastic 1-liter botle, empty Water Tape Mineral oil, 1 pint(500 ml) Blue food coloring What to do
- Pour mineral oil into the empty bottle and add water to fill.
- Place five to six drops of blue food coloring in the bottle and shake.
- Point out how the oil and water don't mix, which will be obvious because the oil will be clear and the water will turn blue.
- Seal the bottle with a lid and tape it shut so it will not leak. You may even wish to seal with a hot glue gun.
- Gently rock the bottle from side to simulate waves.
