Clear jars
Soil
Sand
Cheese cloth or cotton cloth
Rubber band

What to do

  1. Pour water into a clear jar. Add some soil. Stir.
  2. Spread the cheese cloth or cotton cloth over the opening of another jar and hold it in place with a rubber band. Pour sand onto the cloth.
  3. Slowly pour the water with soil through th sand on the cloth and into the clean jar.
  4. The water poured through the sand should be cleaner than the water in the original jar.
