Materials- handful of crayons all the same length
- rubber band
- paper
- masking tape
- music, optional
Art Process- Tape a piece of paper to the table to prevent slipping.
- Bundle a handful of crayons (three or more) with a rubber band. Tap the bundle on the paper to make sure all the crayon points are even.
- Scribble and color on the paper watching the rainbow effect of many crayons making the same marks.
- Add music to the scribbling and make marks or strokes that show how the music feels. Remove tape and turn the paper adding more musical scribbles.
Variations- Use the scribbled paper for a crayon resist by painting over the design with a wash of blue, black or purple paint.
- Use the artwork for wrapping paper.
- Use the scribbled paper as a background for a framed picture or as the background for a finger painting.
Hint: Artists become very energetic when music is added. Using large paper on the floor or wall can accomodate "dancing arms." |
