Dream Catcher

Materials

  • Plastic lids like those from butter tubs
  • Yarn
  • Adult scissors

What To Do

  1. Prepare the lids by cutting slits or notches in the edge, all the way around the outer edge.
  2. Show the children how to wrap the yarn around the lid, pulling into the notches.
  3. At the end, leave extra yarn to loop and hang the dream catcher from.

More To Do?

Circle time: Explain the idea behind the dream catcher: The web of the dream catcher filters all dreams. Good dreams pass through the center hole down the feather to the sleepingperson. The bad dreams get caught in the web and can't get through. Ask what dreams they might want the catcher to catch, and what dreams they would like to get through.

More art: Feather, beads, or stones can be hung from the bottom of the dream catcher.
