Attach one end of a paper strip to the grocery tray base using a stapler or tape.
Secure another strip to the first one with tape, glue or a stapler.
Continue adding strips of paper to the base or to the other strips of paper. Strips can be pleated, folded, connected, cut, paper-punched or fringed with scissors. Let the artists use theirimagination!
The goal is to create a three-dimensional paper sculpture. Once this has been accomplished and the artists is satisfied with the art, the project is complete.
Dry the project completely if glue was used.
Variations
Add other items to the sculpture such as paper shapes, glitter, confetti, magazine pictures or strips. The artists may also sew and tie pieces of yarn to the sculpture.
Use other materials to complete this project. Choose items such as matte board or wood for the base. Use other types of paper such as computer paper or wrapping paper to create the sculpture.Join the paper together with stickers or paper clips.
Hint: Paper Strip Sculpture is interesting because of the interaction of paper strips and does not need to" be" anything or look like anything.
